Family Care Center (Child Minding Center) in Cebu.

Being a help to the many poor families in our city is always our goal. We went one step further with the opening of the Family Care Center on July 26th, 2009. Phase 1 was the opening of a “Child Minding” center where we care for 3-5 years old children from some very poor families in the Guadalupe area. 15 children attend every day from 8.30am-4pm. By setting the mothers free to find paid work, we help these families to reach a better standard of living.

We strive to achieve a higher standard of personal hygiene, and the children get a shower and clean clothes every morning when they arrive. They have learned to wash their hands and brush their teeth which helps improve their general health. Wholesome and nourishing food as well as fresh milk is served daily. After lunch, the children enjoy a nap.

The Center provides the children with a secure and peaceful environment, which often is in strong contrast to their living conditions. To secure the children’s future, we are seeking sponsorship for each of these children while at the center, as well as afterwards when they continue on in Elementary School. Any gift, big or small, to the Family Care Center, the children and their families is appreciated.

Phase 2 and 3 will be to utilize the building as a training and livelihood center, with evening classes in basic computer knowledge and English for teenagers who have not had the possibility to receive a proper education and sewing classes for the mothers.
