January Dental Mission

From January 5-10 we were again able to hold a dental mission here in Cebu. We had a team of 7 dentists fly in from Denmark to help us, and they joined with our dentist, Dr. Mona Rica Melicio, Dr. Romulo Uy from the Department of Education in Lapulapu District and his assistant, Jose Palomares Jr, Dr Jun Ninal, Dr. Sally Lou I Barral and Dr. Rejoyce L. Tapic from Cebu Dental Society. Daily volunteers from our mission center were there to run the operation, register the patients, run the medicine dispensary etc. etc. It was certainly a big team effort, and we enjoyed making a difference for all the ones who came for free treatment... read more


Christmas Cheers

The children at our center in Cebu have been looking forward to Christmas. That lovely time of the year that has been written so much about - all the way from Bible times until today. It is a time to "make merry" - decorating our homes - buying gifts - visiting relatives and so much more. Dental Mission July 2008

We restored 872 teeth, and did prophylaxis on 371 patients. In addition to this we were able to check up on and instruct in the correct way of tooth brushing to hundreds of children in the different schools we were at. Unfortunately we had to extract almost 4000 teeth (3907 to be exact), still way too high, and something we hope will become less and less as we get more and more children to participate in the Tooth Brushing program we are pushing in the Elementary Schools and Day Care centers here in the Cebu area... read more
