New Daycare Center
One of our dreams has been to do something that will make life better for some of the many poor people in this country. Our desire is to see that children will get an opportunity that will give them a brighter future, and that their health would improve as well.
We applied for funding for a daycare center from an American foundation, and received a grant enough to cover the rent and utilities for one year. In the beginning of June, (2009) we located a suitable house in Guadalupe, which is our own part of town, and we are now working on fixing it up. “Lovely Care Center” will be catering to children from 3-5 years old from very poor families. When the children are brought to the center in the morning, they will get a bath and clean clothes. Lunch and healthy snacks in the form of fruits and 1 glass of milk will be provided. Most of the poor families eat only rice and dried fish, as this is cheap foods, and many go hungry to bed at night.
Poor children often don’t have the possibility to go to school. To own a book, or even holding one in their hands is something they are not familiar with. We will be working with a group of very poor families, taking care of their preschool children, and thus setting the mothers free to find work or participate in our livelihood training which in time will enable them to earn a living. Please help contribute to our center if you can.
