JANUARY DENTAL MISSION

From January 5-10 we were again able to hold a dental mission here in Cebu. We had a team of 7 dentists fly in from Denmark to help us, and they joined with our dentist, Dr. Mona Rica Melicio, Dr. Romulo Uy from the Department of Education in Lapulapu District and his assistant, Jose Palomares Jr, Dr Jun Ninal, Dr. Sally Lou I Barral and Dr. Rejoyce L. Tapic from Cebu Dental Society. Daily volunteers from our mission center were there to run the operation, register the patients, run the medicine dispensary etc. etc. It was certainly a big team effort, and we enjoyed making a difference for all the ones who came for free treatment.

The first 3 days the dental free clinic was set up at Canjulao Elementary school in Lapulapu City, and the 2 last days, it the clinic was set up at Cebu Missionary Foundation's community center at Inayawan Rubbish Dump. They also assisted with many volunteers from Cebu and Australia.

All in all, the dental mission was a success with 787 patients treated. The dentists restored 284 teeth, extracted 946 teeth (a number we think is too high) and cleaned the teeth on 119 patients.
