Aid - Livelihood Program
Seeing the desperate situation many young parents face in making ends meet including sending their children to school, has moved us to help arrange livelihood training/education for them with the goal that these people will be able to get better jobs and thus be able to adequately care for their children. We are at the moment supplying a course in dress making for a single mother of 5 from a very poor area, and the plan is to offer several other courses like auto mechanics, carpentry, masonry etc.
To further help, we will open a Daycare Center so that the children will have a safe place to be while mother is working. We have a large number of volunteers from Denmark and other countries studying behavioral science (pedagogy) who stay with us for 6 months at a time as volunteers, so we will be manning the daycare center with one paid local teacher and the rest with qualified volunteers.
Support opportunitiesYou, your friends and family, your club or your company can sponsor a livelihood training/educational course for one family to enable them to get a job or a better job so that they can feed themselves and their family and have a better living standard, making it possible for them to send their children to school. Many short courses are available such as electrician, auto mechanic, baker, hair dresser, manicurist, seamstress etc., and the courses last for 5 or 6 months. Costing about US$ 100 -120 per month.
We are also approaching different companies; foundations and individuals for help in micro-financing the ones who, after finishing their course, would have the necessary talent and burden to start their own business. We would help them obtain whatever tools they would need for whatever business they would like to start, a sewing machine for the seamstress tools for the mechanic etc. They would be expected to pay back the loan, but in easy installments over a period of time.
