Aid - Medicines

We have been visiting Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Centre for many years now, bringing food and entertaining the children as clowns and with the puppet show. This is a hospital where the poor go as the treatment there is for free and where they only have to pay for the medicine and other materials used in the treatment. Even medicines such as antibiotics, is expensive for the low income families and impossible to pay for, for the very poor, which in turn means that some times children will die for lack of antibiotics.

When at the hospital, we often receive requests for help toward medicine from desperate parents of small children. As pneumonia is a common sickness here, they mostly request antibiotics to help their child recover. Unfortunately we have, for the most part, to say no, as we do not have a budget for this.

You can help a child to recover. Antibiotics to cure pneumonia cost about Pesos 3500 – 5000 (US$ 80-100).
