Tooth Brushing Program

Having seen the alarming situation in the condition of the oral health amongst most Filipino children, we launched, in 2005, a tooth-brushing program in 4 elementary schools and 6 daycare centers Mandaue City, in hopes that more information and education about the importance of proper oral care could start turn the situation around. Via other program partners, we were able to provide toothbrushes and toothpaste for only 25 pesos per child/year.

Statistics from other pilot programs show clearly, that if teeth are brushed once a day, the rate of growing cavities is lessened by 50%. This program was adapted in Mandaue City for all the children in daycare centers and elementary schools, and the results have been fantastic. As one Danish dentist, who were here to help us asses the program said, “the teeth here are just as good as the teeth of children in Denmark”.

We are now launching a health program including tooth brushing as well as de-worming for close to 10.000 1st grade elementary school children in Lapu-Lapu City.

You, your friends and family, your club or your company can sponsor any number of school children; a class, a grade or even a whole school. Expenses toward toothpaste and toothbrushes for one child for one year is 25 pesos (D.kr.3,50).
